Righting the Wrongs ~ 2 : Family pain, petty relief!

(II)

All stood behind the door worrying. Nani was being consoled by Payal and Maami who are crying themselves while Shyam stood behind them, in a corner, exasperated with their family drama. Khushi and Arnav stood beside each other as a gesture of silent support.

Doctor has been called immediately by HP, as per Arnav's order, and he's currently inside checking on Anjali. If Anjali's frailness is something that everyone worried about, now her being pregnant on that is like adding fuel to the already lit fire.

As they waited, doctor came outside and everyone rushed to him eager for the news. Shyam stayed still in his place knowing no one will bother about him when their bitiya is in this situation. To say, he's already getting tired of acting their ideal and perfect damaad.

"Doctor, Di kaisi hain?" Arnav was the first one to break the silence while the doctor looked around at the people present, their eyes asking him the same question. He sighed.

"She's under pressure. Lately she have been taking less and less food I believe?" He ran his questioning gaze around the family and found no answer. "Well, she's weak. And today as I see she have received a shock seeing her husband as well as Mr. Raizada like this. She couldn't take it upon her weak state and I am afraid the baby is in danger too." He lowered his voice lacing it with disappointment.

He have known Raizada's for some time now and is their family doctor. And he is well aware of Anjali's health condition too. Seeing her like this is only saying so much of how less care she's been taking about herself.

Everybody gasped hearing his words. Baby...their Anjali's baby is in danger? They could only pray for it to not happen like they are thinking it is.

"Baby...how's the baby?" Arnav is once again the one breaking the silence and voicing out everyone's question. He may not like the slime ball with whom his Di is sharing the baby, but still it will be his Di's baby in the end. And he want nothing to go wrong with his Di's baby.

"For now, Mr. Raizada, the baby is fine. But she should be taken care of really well. Anjali is weak, like she's normally too. Now when she's carrying she should be handled with care and protection. Last time I checked Anjali confided in me saying she's been missing you Mr. Raizada and was really worried, the last I recalled, about you." He said pointedly staring at Arnav.

"Try to be by her side. I believe your presence, for now after she will be up, will soothe her. And please do NOT stress her out. She's not in a state to take it up, yet. For now she's under sedative. She'll be up after a hour." doctor said and started to take his leave handing Arnav a prescription of tablets he explained to be given to Anjali and the instructions as to when and which.

"Mr. Raizada, your wounds...?" Doctor stopped and asked apprehensively already knowing Arnav isn't always willing for a medical treatment. Not so many times, but he experienced Arnav's rejection for medical treatment.

"I'll be fine doctor. For now it's just Di. But..." he stopped turning around to Khushi silently asking her if she needs doctor. Upon her shake of head, he nodded. At least this is done according to her.

"HP, see the doctor to the door," Arnav ordered while HP nodded taking doctor's suit case into his hands and moving down the stairs. Everyone kept silent as they saw the retreating back of the doctor their mind full of questions.

Arnav could only imagine how his home had been without him. And he didn't know whom he's to blame. Himself or his family members? He looked behind everyone at Shyam who stood far away with no concern in the world. Immediately Arnav wanted to throw punch after punch on his vile face for hurting his Di and Khushi.

"Ee hamara ghar mein kaa howath hain bitwa?" Nani cried falling down who was caught by Maami and Payal with a cry of surprise. Arnav looked at his Nani his own eyes turning moist and red. "Pehle damaad-ji, phir tum aur Khushi bitiya ab Anjali bitiya. Ee sab kaa hain?" Nani sobbed along with Payal and Maami who had no answers for her questions.

Khushi looked troubled while her tears flowed down in a straight fall and she didn't even bother wiping them. She wanted to say, tell them everything. Seeing Anjali and Nani like this is only making her more and more angry on the sorry excuse of a man standing somewhere behind not even bothered a bit about happenings. Her determination grew fierce and she looked beside her at her Arnav-ji wanting his support in this. But what she saw made her determination blow away in thin air and her fierceness came down, like someone spilled water on fire.

"Arnav-ji," she whispered her voice, meek, a showcase of the fear she's feeling. He didn't take his eyes off of her at all looking at her with his eagle eyes.

"Nani, we'll be back in a moment. We have to change into something comfortable." He told Nani not even bothering a glance in her way his sole focus on Khushi. He felt it a need for some distraction, something to keep him from punching Shyam black and blue. He is desperately in need of cooling his mind. But alas! Even in this he's scaring Khushi.

Nani just nodded her head while Maami can only stare at both of them. She forgot all about the kidnap fuss when she saw Shyam before her eyes her curiosity and doubts increasing more and more. And then after Arnav and Khushi are back, it has all been about Anjali. But now when she again focused on them, all the events came back to her in a rush.

She remembered how Arnav strode inside the house his hand tightly clasped in hers. So does that mean Arnav bitwa still doesn't know all about phatisaadi and damaad-ji? Kuch toh kareki padegi, hello hi bye bye!

She saw Arnav and Khushi go back to their room at the far end corner of the floor. Hands clasped, she noticed. Deciding to do something later, she started to console her Saasuma before her.

Arnav marched into his room his hand squeezing Khushi’s tightly making her wince. Only after hearing her hiss did he loosen his hold on her hand his thoughts too wayward to think about giving her pain...again.

Once in their room he left her at the entrance closing their door and locking it. Not even giving her a glance he went out of the room, to the poolside, solely focusing on reducing his anger.

Di....think about Di! He told himself, but again that slime's face is before him. He's the reason for his Di's condition this day.

Khushi, he turned around at the thought of her name. She stood at the same place he left her, near the door. Her eyes troubled and confused seeing him. He smiled sadly to himself.

What has she not done for me? To me? Yet I couldn't even earn her trust. She still believes I'm angry on her, isn't it? Wasn't I the reason if she fears me? Am I not the reason she has suffered every pain from the time I entered her life?

His guilt and remorse was enough to dab down his increasing anger as he stepped into his room gulping down at the fear in her eyes. He felt like hurting himself seeing her like this, afraid of him.

"Kh…Khushi," he whispered cupping her cheek with his hand. He didn't miss her flinch nor did he miss how she snuggled her face into his hand. His heart fluttered at that gesture and he felt a fleeting of smile cross his face. HIS Khushi.

"Freshen up," he whispered, his thumb running over her cheeks, his chocolate brown eyes gazing straight into her now glassy hazel ones. He sensed the apprehension in her eyes and silently assured her to say it. The guilt of seeing her fearing him took a back seat right now, his all concentration only on her face.

"Wo...your wounds," she pointed out, as she lightly absentmindedly ran a finger on a bruise on his shoulder. He flinched at the sudden pain and even before he could comprehend, he was being dragged by her.

Making him sit on his...their...bed, she went running into the bathroom and brought out the first aid kid. Sitting down beside him, comfortably, she started dabbing his wounds with savlon dipped wet cotton taking utmost care to not make him feel the pain. But that was impossible with the amount of wounds and seeing that she is cleaning them with wet cloth.

He looked at her, as if remembering her everything, imprinting her every self into his brain. He realized in a daze everything she’s doing, her dampening the cotton and kept cleaning every of his wounds. He basked in the glory of his wife's pampering. For now!
